H-LP’s Christmas Vacation

This year Christmas break was from December 23rd through January 3rd for the students. The teachers came back on the 2nd for in service. Many people spent time with their families and enjoyed relaxing on their days off. Some of our teachers went on some adventurous trips during the break.

Mr. Popken went with his wife and friends to a football game in Minneapolis. They saw the Bears play the Vikings. They also saw the protesters while they were in the city. Mr. Popken’s family also spent a few days in Sioux Falls. They loved their family time and went to a water park. On Christmas, they went to Mrs. Popken’s mom’s house in Spencer. There were lots of favorite parts, but Mr. Popken enjoyed playing games and snowmobiling as a family! They had a wonderful Christmas vacation.

Mrs. Winters, her husband, and her dog traveled to Independence, Iowa. They went to see their son and his wife, and also their grandson, Landon. Landon is currently sixteen months old. Mrs. Winters said, “Any day with Landon is a fun day. I loved experiencing Christmas through his eyes.” They stayed in Independence for three days. They also went shopping in Cedar Falls and Waterloo.

After two days of family Christmases, Mrs. Gochnauer and her husband visited Branson, Missouri, for a few days. They got to see two shows and enjoyed eating at fun locations. Mrs. Gochnauer enjoyed walking around in the warm weather and seeing all of the Christmas lights. They visit Branson one to two times a year. She recommends visiting Branson because there is a variety of things to do, and it is a nine to ten hour drive, so you can make it in a day.

We hope everyone had a fun Christmas break!
