Something to dance for

Alex Roberts is not only our high school cheerleading coach, but she is also in charge of our high school dance team. There are currently ten girls out for dance team:  Emily Metzger, Morgan Bradley, Brianne Ihnen, Lexi Stahly, Skylar Forbes, Kilyn Forbes, So-So Lagnaux, Line van Prooije, Marianne Nebelsick, and I.

We have already performed three dances this year. We are going to perform two more for the rest of the year. The next dance we do will be this month for a co-ed routine. It has been really fun to get to know some other people and experience the way things are done this year. Although we have lost some of the girls since the beginning, I wouldn’t change the group for anything. It has been an unforgettable experience.

Dance Color

Mrs. Roberts has a bit of an edge in the dance department. She was in dance for sixteen years prior to this job. She was also on her dance team at South O’Brien High School. We have been lucky to have had her as our coach for the 2016-2017 season. I would not want anyone else to teach us for my senior year. She has taught us different styles of dance, as opposed to just pom. Our last performance is going to be a hip-hop routine. So stay tuned into the schedule for that one!

I cannot speak for other girls, but I am happy with how this season has turned out so far. One thing Mrs. Roberts always tells us is, “Suck it up, cupcake.” I think that is one thing I will for sure take with me after this experience. Things won’t always be the best, but you can always make them better.

I would like to wish my fellow girls good luck with the next routines, and I hope they are enjoying dance as much as I am.
