Home of the Wolves

Starting the year off

Girls BB

This year’s basketball team consists of only eleven girls. The juniors on the team are Blake Gunderson, Avery Heikens, and Skylar Forbes. The sophomores on the team include Grace Elser, Madison Brevik, Brianne Ihnen, Rachel Martin, Taylor Meyer, and Jazmin Voehl. This year’s freshmen are Kilyn Forbes and MacKenzie Heikens.

All the girls are excited to be a part of this great year. The team has worked hard during practice and has had a very memorable experience so far. Although the team hasn’t won a game yet, we can’t wait to get back at it and play another game.

The first game the girls played was at home against GTRA. The junior varsity team had won but varsity had lost that night. The score for the JV game was 14-4. The score for the varsity game was 33-53. The second game the Lady Wolves played at home was against HMS. Both JV and varsity lost. The score of the JV game was 10-17. The score of the varsity game was 35-51.

For the Lady Wolves’ third game against Okoboji on Thursday night, both of the teams lost again. The score of the JV game was 17-33 and the score of the varsity game was 47-62. On Dec. 2, the girls varsity team played South O’Brien. This game was very close all the way to the end. The final score was 51-55. Jazmin made all but one of her free throws throughout this game. The girls fought to the very end in this game until they could play no more.

Despite their record, the Lady Wolves are not hanging their heads over any of these games. The team has come a long way since day one and they aren’t about to stop now. Jazmin Voehl said, “The only way is up from here on out and that is the direction that we are planning to go in.”
